First State Bank of the Florida Keys Senior Vice President/Marketing Director Don Lanman has been named an "Honorary Conch" by the Monroe County Board of Commissioners.
"Don's dedication to the Florida Keys community, specifically his recent level of involvement with the South Florida Workforce Board (SFWIB), and the STEM program is highly impressive," said Monroe County Commissioner David Rice. "We are pleased to be able to bestow him the title of 'Honorary Conch'".
Lanman was appointed to the SFWB by the Monroe County Board of Commissioners in 2012. Through his active participation he was able to help procure a $60,000 grant from by the SFWIB, allowing Monroe County High School students grades nine through eleven to spend their March break participating in the National Flight Academy's Explore Ambition Program, located at Naval Air Station, Pensacola.
In addition to his role with the SFWB, Lanman's numerous civic and community commitments include serving on the Board of Directors for: Visiting Nurses Association and Hospice of the Florida Keys, Vice Chairman; Forgotten Soldiers Outreach, LLC; and the Military Affairs Committee. He also sits on the Key West Chamber of Commerce Membership Committee and is a graduate of Leadership Monroe County Class XX.
