FSB Supports Key West Craft Show

First State Bank of the Florida Keys continued its support of the Key West Art Center by providing volunteers for the 31st Annual Key West Craft Show.

“The First State Bank volunteers always provide great energy and we truly rely on them,” said Jane Grannis, Key West Art Center, Craft Fair Coordinator. “We appreciate the huge difference they make in our communities and their contributions to our events.”

Registration for the historic race will take place online only with Monroe County resident’s registration beginning at 6:00am EST on February 4th and open registration beginning at 6:00am EST on February 9th.

Goodwin Joins First State Bank

First State Bank of the Florida Keys welcomes Karen Goodwin as Vice President Corporate Services Manager.

Goodwin joins First State with over twelve years of Florida Keys banking experience. She began her banking career in 2003 and held positions ranging from Customer Service Representative to Branch Manager. In addition to Retail Banking, she has sales and support experience in corporate services and credit card products, as well as consumer, Home Equity and commercial loans.

FSB Makes a Donation to Community

First State Bank of the Florida Keys continues its support of local non-profits and the Keys community with a $2,500 donation to the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys (CFFK).

First State Bank Supports FIRM

First State Bank of the Florida Keys continued their support of Fair Insurance Rates of Monroe County (FIRM) in their ongoing fight against unfair windstorm and flood rates increases in Monroe County.

With the help of First State Bank’s donation, FIRM will continue to fight against excessive, discriminatory property insurance rates by staying active at the legislative level and monitoring initiatives and events that have the potential to impact insurance rates.  For more information visit

Martindale Named FSB Employee of the Quarter

Jeff Martindale, First State Bank of the Florida Keys’ Mailroom Courier was named the Bank’s Employee of the Quarter.

Martindale was recognized by his fellow employees for his initiative, ability, and great attitude in the workplace.  Martindale joined First State Bank in 2006 as Mailroom Clerk/Courier. He is originally from Trinidad and has lived in Key West for over 15 years.

“Jeff is a pleasure to work with,” said David deYoung, Facilities Officer. “His bright and cheerful attitude makes him an invaluable employee and well deserving of this award.”   

FSB Celebrates Hadas’ Anniversary

First State Bank of the Florida Keys congratulates Kerry Hadas, Vice President/Branch Administration Officer/Training Manager on her twenty-fifth anniversary with the Bank.

Hadas was hired in 1990 as a Teller at the Main office, she progressed with the Bank holding positions including Customer Service Representative, Customer Service Support Representative, Head Teller, Assistant Branch Manager, Customer Service Officer, Personal Banking Officer, and Branch Manager.  In 2008 she was promoted to Assistant Vice President/Personal Banking Officer to Vice President in 2013.

First State Bank Helps Mariners Run

First State Bank of the Florida Keys supports the Mariners Hospital with a donation to the Gordon Present 5K Walk/Run, benefiting the Center for Excellence in Nursing.

The event attracts walkers and runners Keyswide through Miami-Dade County to race down Old Highway from Coral Shores High School to Treasure Village Montessori. The race also included a Wellness Fair with free cholesterol and glucose screenings as well as massage therapy.

FSB to Help Stanley Switlick Spell Success

First State Bank of the Florida Keys supported Habitat for Humanity of the Middle Keys’ 16th (Not So) Annual Adult Spelling Bee.

Each year the Bank sponsors a 3 person team consisting of teachers and faculty members from Stanley Switlick Elementary School, Mary Lou Darczuk, Rosa Rios, and Debra Smith.  This year the teachers took top honors at the event, winning first place.

FSB Congratulates Mira on Service

First State Bank of the Florida Keys is pleased to congratulate Lisbey Mira, Main Office Lead Teller, on her twentieth year with the Bank.

Lisbey joined as a Teller at the Main Office in 1995 and was promoted to her current position as Lead Teller in 2007.  She was recognized by her fellow employees and managers for Employee of the Quarter in 2008 and has been the Bank’s “on-the-job” new Teller trainer for years.
