First State Bank History

We’ve always been about community. First State Bank has a long history of serving, reaching out, and connecting in the Florida Keys. We started out in 1955, with a single Key West branch and a handful of employees. As the Keys community grew, so did the Bank, steadily adding more services and branches. We’ve grown and changed in a lot of good ways. But our core values remain the same – we’re a proud, locally owned institution operated for the benefit of the people of Monroe County.

Today, over 60 years later, First State Bank continues to thrive and expand our line-up of products, services, and delivery systems. We boast 11 offices from Key West to Key Largo, more than any other financial institution in Monroe County. We operate the only bank in Stock Island and Summerland, as well as offices located inside the Key West Winn Dixie Supermarket and next to Publix in the Key Largo Tradewinds Plaza.

We have more ATM locations (14), more drive-through lanes (16), and more operating hours each week (71) than any other bank. (Guess what that means? More convenience and more banking options for you.) And although we may be the oldest bank in Monroe County, we’ve stayed up-to-the-minute with technology, security, and customer service.

But what really sets us apart? Our people. We’re your friends and neighbors, and we care about you. From our tellers to our president, we're all working to help you fulfill your dreams and aspirations, to create a better life for you and your family. We want to see you succeed. That’s why we do all we can to see that your deposits go toward developing our own local communities.

So if you're looking for a bank that feels the way you do about the Keys, a bank run by people who have a real commitment to this area, switch to First State Bank...We're Locals Like You!
